The New Zealand Loyal Defence Policy prioritizes the protection and well-being of New Zealand and its people. Our approach emphasizes the utilization of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) in various roles, including domestic infrastructure projects, civil defence emergencies, and trade training.
Defence Objectives
Our primary defence objectives are:
– Defend New Zealand: Protect our people, land, territorial waters, exclusive economic zone, natural resources, and critical infrastructure.
– Support Civil Defence: Establish bases with machinery, equipment, and supplies for rapid deployment in disaster zones.
– Promote Trade Training: Encourage New Zealanders to consider the military as a great place to gain trade training and other skill sets.
– Revamp Defence Management: Emphasize the defence of New Zealand and its people above foreign deployment.
Military Structure and Capabilities
Our military structure will consist of:
– Army: Utilize the Corps of Engineers for domestic infrastructure projects, such as building roads, bridges, and other projects suited to their skill set.
– Navy: Establish two main naval bases, one on the North Island and one on the South Island, as well as four satellite bases to patrol New Zealand’s territorial waters and economic zone. Bring our navy up to war-fighting capabilities and standards that match current perceived threats. The New Zealand Coast Guard will be part of the Navy’s oversight and responsibility.
– Air Force: Create a combat wing/strike force capability for domestic patrolling and interception within our territorial claims.
– Special Elite Units: Establish units for specialized operations, such as counter-terrorism and search and rescue.
Utilization of Military for Domestic Applications
We will utilize our disciplined military for domestic applications to maximize:
– Cost-effectiveness: By using military personnel and resources, we can reduce costs associated with hiring external contractors.
– Timely completion: Our military’s disciplined approach ensures projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
– Increased experience for personnel: Domestic projects provide valuable training and experience for our military personnel, enhancing their skills and readiness.
International Relations
New Zealand will maintain a neutral position and avoid entanglements in foreign conflicts.
Resource Optimization
Where possible and appropriate, defence force arms will be either amalgamated or situated on sites for combined use, maximizing personnel and resource capabilities and capacity.
Personnel and Leadership
– Merit-Based Placements: All officers and subordinates will be placed based on merit, experience, and loyalty.
– No Ideological Programs: There will be no DEI or other ideological programs permitted in the NZDF.
Key Principles
Our defence policy will be guided by the following principles:
– Defence of New Zealand: Our primary focus is the defence of New Zealand and its people.
– Effective Utilization of Resources: We will maximize the use of our military resources for domestic applications to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
