New Zealand Loyal is the biggest party outside parliament, apart from TOP, according to the latest TVNZ Verian Poll.

Making it’s first appearance in the polls since re-registration, NZ Loyal received 0.6%, polling ahead of all the minor parties.

“Entering the polls is the first step, as the campaign grows we expect to steadily build on this result, giving voters a viable alternative for New Zealand,” party leader Kelvyn Alp said.

New Zealand Loyal wishes to update the public on the ongoing trademark matter concerning Application No. 1270333 (classes 16, 25, 41 and 45) filed in the name of Liz Gunn.

New Zealand Loyal filed a formal opposition (proceeding no. 9157) to the registration of this mark in a timely manner. The opposition is grounded in the fact that the logo in question is owned by members of New Zealand Loyal and forms part of the party’s identity.

On 25 August 2026, lawyers acting for the applicant (James & Wells) filed an Application for Extension of Time with the Commissioner of Trade Marks. The request seeks a three-month extension – from 25 August 2026 to 25 November 2026 – under regulation 32(1) of the Trade Marks Regulations 2003, to file a counterstatement in response to the opposition.

New Zealand Loyal considers the timing of this extension request significant. It pushes the next procedural step well past the forthcoming election period. We view this as political interference in a matter that should be resolved on its legal merits without unnecessary delay.

We also invite members of the public following this issue to consider a simple question: Why would an extension of time be required by the applicant in relation to a mark that has been publicly presented as already secured or granted, unless the registration process remains incomplete and statements claiming victory have been false?

New Zealand Loyal will continue to defend its members’ ownership of the party’s logo through the proper channels before the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand. We remain committed to transparency on this matter and will provide further updates as the proceedings develop.

For decades, New Zealanders have been conditioned to choose their government the same way many choose a product off a supermarket shelf: by the packaging. Charisma, stage presence, carefully managed media moments, and the cultivated image of the front man or front woman have repeatedly outweighed rigorous scrutiny of policy substance and the political will required to implement it. Voters ask themselves who looks strong, who sounds reassuring, or who performs best in the latest televised clash. Far fewer ask the harder questions: Who has the best policies? Who has the intestinal fortitude to fight for those policies when the pressure comes? Who is prepared to stand against the entrenched interests that profit from the status quo remaining intact?

The result is predictable. Elections become contests of personality rather than contests of ideas. The two-horse race between National and Labour dominated the political landscape for generations. Even after the introduction of Mixed Member Proportional representation, the system largely evolved into coalitions that function as offshoots or junior partners of the same two dominant forces. Ideological differences between these groupings are often marginal. The rhetoric changes; the underlying approach to power, centralisation, and external influence rarely does. Problems that surface every election cycle – housing unaffordability, declining productivity, erosion of sovereignty, cost-of-living pressures, and the steady transfer of decision-making away from the people – are never resolved. They are managed, deferred, or rebranded. Sticks and carrots are deployed. Promises are made. Delivery is optional.

It’s not accidental. It’s the usual game. Globalist influences, bureaucratic capture, and networks of control thrive when the political class remains interchangeable and the public remains distracted by personalities. Real solutions that threaten the status quo invite immediate and coordinated attack. Few politicians are willing to absorb that cost. Manufactured outrage narratives are deployed with precision, ensuring the gullible fall into line. The ill-informed are guided by emotion, selective information, and social pressure rather than by careful assessment of outcomes. Politicians understand this dynamic and exploit it. Votes are directed rather than freely chosen on the basis of what is right.

Many New Zealanders complain between elections about the same failures. Yet as polling day approaches, the “wasted vote” narrative returns with reliable force. Coordinated attacks intensify against any party that offers a genuine alternative. Armchair critics, who have never had to build a coherent policy platform or withstand the institutional pressure that accompanies challenging power, declare that supporting New Zealand Loyal is pointless because “no one else will vote that way.” This is self-sabotage dressed up as realism. It’s the same logic that keeps the cycle intact.

History offers a recent reminder. Prior to the last election, NZ First was not even in Parliament. The people had removed them. A carefully crafted strategy then repositioned the party to capture those disillusioned with the previous government, including segments of the freedom movement. Once again, many fell for the con. People speak of wanting justice for the harms inflicted by the state in recent years, yet they repeatedly return the same political class – or its close variants – to positions where they can commit further harms and provide cover for those responsible. You think that’s pragmatism? No, it’s lunacy.

Some parties now promote Direct Democracy as the answer. On the surface it appeals. In practice, a poorly informed population voting on complex matters without structural safeguards is as dangerous as any dictatorship. Without serious constitutional reform – including a real, written constitution that places clear limits on power and protects fundamental rights even when temporary majorities demand the opposite – popular votes can simply accelerate damage. The protection of the informed and the uninformed alike requires institutional guardrails, not the hope that the next referendum will magically produce wisdom.

New Zealand Loyal exists precisely because the old game no longer serves the country. It rejects the mild, interchangeable politics of the major blocs and their satellites. It puts forward tangible solutions aimed at the recurring problems that other parties treat as permanent features of the landscape. Those solutions threaten vested interests. That is why the attacks come thick and fast. That is also why the party is necessary.

This election remains in your hands. Do not allow shills, trolls, or those posing as pragmatists to convince you that your vote only counts if it is cast for the options they prefer. The only wasted vote is the one given to something you do not believe in, or the one that guarantees more of the same. Be equally wary of those who claim to share your concerns while quietly steering you back into the same captivity under a different brand.

Policy over personality. Substance over spectacle. Courage over convenience. The alternative future is available. Whether it’s chosen is a decision for the people of New Zealand – not for the narrative managers who benefit from keeping the choice narrow.

NZ Loyal is officially a registered political party and will be contesting the New Zealand General Election on 7 November.

The Electoral Commission today approved registration of New Zealand Loyal under Part 4 of the Electoral Act 1993. 

“This registration is the result of a genuine grassroots movement determined to restore the voice of ordinary New Zealanders,” party leader Kelvyn Alp said.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the history of our movement. This is a moment of achievement, renewal and genuine hope.”

“This milestone has been made possible by the loyalty, determination and belief of our members, candidates, volunteers and supporters across New Zealand. Together, we have rebuilt. Together, we have persevered. Together, we have created a real opportunity to offer New Zealanders a bold and principled alternative at the ballot box.”

However, the Electoral Commission refused to register the logo of the party under section 71D(1)(c) of the Act, due to an ongoing intellectual property dispute.

“The name New Zealand Loyal will appear on the ballot papers for the party vote and beside our electorate candidates. While the party logo will not presently appear due to the continuing trademark matter, this does not affect our registration, our campaign or our ability to contest the election.”

“Our position remains that NZ Loyal’s identity has been established as the registered political party and that its name and logo represent the collective organisation and its members. That process will continue through the appropriate legal channels. As the party logo is subject to a dispute, we are unable to have the logo itself on the ballot sheet for the November 7 elections.”

Today, however, is not about what is missing, it is about what has been achieved. New Zealand Loyal is now officially registered, organised and ready to campaign for a stronger, freer, more prosperous and more confident New Zealand.

Enough with the drama. Liz Gunn’s coordinated assault on New Zealand Loyal isn’t principled dissent – it’s a desperate diversion from her own failures. Baseless allegations, contradictory statements, and public mud-slinging won’t stop a member-driven party that’s moving forward with clear leadership and unyielding focus on the November 7 General Election.

Gunn claims she never resigned as leader while simultaneously insisting she never ratified the party constitution, rendering it invalid. This isn’t coherence; it’s convenient flip-flopping designed to sow chaos and derail re-registration. No evidence backs her smears against NZ Loyal members and the new leadership. None. It’s all smoke, mirrors, and theatrical ramblings aimed at disrupting a party that dared to hold her accountable.

Members Took Back Control

Party members refused to let one individual’s actions bury their movement. They convened a special general meeting, elected an interim board, and set a clear mandate: recover the party list, finances, and assets; convene a proper Annual General Meeting to elect official leadership; and pursue accountability for the mishandling of original party funds. It wasn’t a coup – it was members exercising their rights under the constitution against unilateral deregistration and financial improprieties.

The interim board, now under capable leadership including Kelvyn Alp, has delivered stability where there was none. This is leadership that cannot be intimidated, coerced, bribed, blackmailed, or bought off. Gunn’s tactics expose exactly why they’re needed: the old guard couldn’t handle scrutiny or deliver results.

NZ Loyal: Solutions Over Sideshows

While Gunn fixates on personal grievances and IP disputes, NZ Loyal is laser-focused on what matters: challenging the entrenched status quo that’s failed everyday Kiwis. This isn’t another personality cult or recycled protest party. It’s a fully functioning vehicle built by and for members who demand real alternatives on sovereignty, economic freedom, health autonomy, and ending centralised control.
