NZ Loyal is officially a registered political party and will be contesting the New Zealand General Election on 7 November.
The Electoral Commission today approved registration of New Zealand Loyal under Part 4 of the Electoral Act 1993.
“This registration is the result of a genuine grassroots movement determined to restore the voice of ordinary New Zealanders,” party leader Kelvyn Alp said.
“Today marks a significant milestone in the history of our movement.”
However, the Electoral Commission refused to register the logo of the party under section 71D(1)(c) of the Act, due to an ongoing intellectual property dispute.
“Our position remains that NZ Loyal’s identity has been established as the registered political party and that its name and logo represent the collective organisation and its members. That process will continue through the appropriate legal channels. As the party logo is subject to a dispute, we are unable to have the logo itself on the ballot sheet for the November 7 elections.”
