I am intrigued as to how a 1% transaction tax can possibly raise enough money to run the country. Are we to pay for our own health/education etc. What about welfare, roading, so many questions,
The 1% tax covers every transaction so it will apply to bank transfers and other transactions that don’t currently pay any tax. Total interbank settlements is believed to be 7-10 trillion / year in NZ so a 1% transaction tax would bring in similar revenue to current taxes. Treasury would also issue currency at 0% interest to build infrastructure. https://nzloyal.com/new-zealand-loyal-1-transaction-tax/
